How can our GAP group empower girls in our community and in other parts of the world to take action, big and small to make gender equity a reality?

Mission Statement
We want to raise awareness about girls' rights. Mainly we want to show our community how stereotypes about girls affect their future. We want to show that the girls do not have equal rights to males and that because of what girls are thought to be like does not allow them to be strong in certain academic areas like science.
Local Project
For our local project, we hope that seventh and eighth grade students at Brookwood School will think differently about how girl stereotypes affect their future and the type of jobs they have. During our local project we will take the eighth and seventh grade during advisory and show them part of a woman's rights video called "Like a Girl." We will also be showing them statistics on what these students thought about what subjects women are more successful and weaker in and how these thoughts might affect the work fields they go into. A couple weeks before this presentation we will be giving these students a survey and that is where we are going to get the statistics from.
This video is called "Like a Girl." We are going to show this video to the seventh grade when we present their results from the survey they took.
This is a video of the conversation we had with girls from FAWE. We told them about our driving question, mission statement, and local project. In exchange, they gave us suggestions and told them what they were doing in their community to contribute to this issue.
