Is it possible for eighth graders to raise awareness of hunger and food safety in our school?
Mission Statement:
Every year, around 2 million people die from unsafe food and dirty water, and 99 million children under the age of five were underweight as of 2012. That’s 1 out of 6 children in the world’s developing countries. As a GAP group, our goal is to raise awareness about global food safety and hunger, as well as connect FAWE to Gardens For Health, an organization globally providing nutrition to kids who are malnourished or without safe food.
Local Project - World Health Day Commemoration - Food Security and Hunger
In order to raise awareness of malnutrition and food safety around the world, we are organizing a presentation for World Health Day in the spring of 2015. We will put out healthy foods with cards at lunch that explain how healthy food is prepared, and we will present a powerpoint on global health and nutrition. We hope to contact Gardens for Health and the FAWE School, both in Rwanda, and talk to them about food safety and malnutrition.
